Báidín Fheilimí is one of the most widely known traditional songs in the Irish language. It originates in the Gaeltacht (Irish speaking) region of north-west Donegal. It is usually taught to young children. The lyrics are in Irish (Gaeilge) and tell the story of the fate of a small boat (báidín) owned by a man called Feilimí (Phelim).
It has been recorded by artists such as Na Casaidigh, Sinéad O’Connor, John Spillance and Emmet Spiceland amongst others.
